EFCC arraigns four fake investors





Four men were Monday arraigned by the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
for allegedly diverting N1.4bn which they
collected from the Bank of Industry. The men
allegedly collected the money under the guise
of investors.
Those charged are Oluwatoyin Ipaye of a
Lagos State High Court in Ikeja were Johnson
Salako, Toritseju Jemide, Enoche Ugbabe and
Enebeli Theophilus.
They were charged with five counts bordering
on felony, stealing and forgery, contrary to
sections 467 and 516 of the Criminal Code
Law of Lagos State.
The EFCC, said in one of the charges that the
accused “forged a Certificate of Occupancy of
Lands Registry in Lagos State, which you
pledged as security to obtain the facility.”
Babatunde Sonaike, the EFCC prosecutor also
alleged that the accused forged two title
deeds to obtain the loan from BOI under false
pretence that they were investing it in a
project.
Only Enoche and Enebeli, two of the accused,
were, however, in court on Monday.
Both men pleaded not guilty to all the
charges, Justice Ipaye, however, ordered their
remand in the prison custody.
The case was adjourned till February 4, 2016
for the hearing on bail application.
