As Nigeria embraced the dawn of 2024, state governors delivered their New Year messages, offering assurances, declaring periods of mourning, and outlining visions for progress and unity across the nation.
Plateau's Mourning Period:
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State declared a solemn week of mourning, honoring victims of the Christmas Eve attacks in Bokkos, Mangu, and Barkin-Ladi communities. He urged intensive prayers for divine intervention, dismissing the attacks as premeditated criminal acts and emphasizing the need for united efforts against terrorism.
Edo's Stand Against Cult Violence:
Governor Godwin Obaseki condemned cult-related violence, affirming collaboration with law enforcement to investigate and prosecute culprits. He highlighted the state's commitment to infrastructural development and urged citizens to choose leaders dedicated to progress during the upcoming elections.
