The Lagos State Police Command is actively investigating an alleged assault case involving Tope Segun, reportedly attacked by suspected members of the Oodua People's Congress (OPC) in the Olodan area of Ijora Badia, Lagos.

Tope narrated that the incident stemmed from her former boyfriend, Atari, seeking retribution against her brother, Abdulahi, following a prior clash. She detailed being brutally assaulted by OPC members when attempting to protect her brother during the confrontation.

Recalling the altercation that led to the violent incident, Tope explained, "My former boyfriend visited our home on Olodan Street, Ijora Badia. He got into an altercation with my brother, leading to a physical confrontation."

In her account, Tope described Atari's involvement in the altercation and his subsequent summoning of OPC members to discipline her brother. She recounted the harrowing experience of being assaulted with a grinding machine belt and enduring multiple hits, leaving her visibly injured in video evidence obtained by PUNCH Metro.

Despite appeals for an amicable resolution, Tope emphasized her determination not to allow the case to be overlooked or dismissed.

Following the incident, Tope reported the matter to the police station in Pako, Amukoko, escalating the case to the Area Command. However, concerns were raised by residents, noting that the accused individual was allegedly released after a brief detention instead of facing court charges.

Responding to queries about the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, clarified that the accused was granted bail, asserting that all parties involved were summoned for a meeting at the Area Commander’s office to address the issue further.

Meanwhile, an official from the OPC faction led by Gani Adams vowed to investigate the matter and provide feedback to the correspondent, as he refrained from being quoted immediately.
